I looked up Ativan, and its Lorazapam, which is from the Valium family. It doesn't seem like a hang yourself drug.

I don't know the answer to that. But I doubt his family would need to rely on that. He was loaded.

The vocalists from Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains, and Soundgarden are all gone now. That's 4/5. Watch out Eddie Vedder.

Dying of drugs isn't heroic. Dying of bulimia or chocking on a ham sandwich is.

Or...maybe he was fighting depression for a while, and in the quiet of a hotel room after a show the bear finally caught him. That happens.

Or maybe the thought of coming to St. Louis and playing music by a landfill to butt rock fan hoosiers was too much to bear?

Seems like its been with him for a very long time - from a 2013 interview

So it wasn't an especially dark time?

'No, not that I remember. No more than usual. I think that I always struggled with depression and isolation, so those could come out.'

'No matter how happy you are, you can wake up one day without any specific thing occurring to bring you into a darker place, and you'll just be in a darker place anyway. To me, that was always a terrifying thought, because that's something that – as far as I know – we don't necessarily have control over.'

Great retrospective on Lithium just concluded. Replaying tonight at 10, tomorrow morning at 8 and tomorrow afternoon at 2 for those with Sirius. Tons of his work, including solo and acoustic stuff, interviews, etc.

Does musical/artistic intelligence lend itself to depression?
