Default How Will You Remember 2016?

We all have our personal stories that have helped to shape this remarkable year. Whether it be a significant loss, a personal or professional gain, or other. But how will you remember the past (almost) 365 days? It's certainly been one for the books, that's for certain. And I, for one, ain't gonna miss it one bit.

    Your thoughts?

My son was born and my husband was promoted. It was a pretty good year for our family.

In a recent poll conducted December 9-11 of roughly 1000 adults, 55% thought 2017 would be better for them than 2016. 33% thought 2016 actually was worse for them than 2015. These views were influenced by foreign conflict, mass shootings, racial disharmony and this year's election.

Personally, a significant year with changes to my professional arrangements and having moved.

Politically, the racists are have gone all Peter Finch, and them being out is probably a good thing.

Socioeconomically, I started becoming very concerned that Malthus's predictions were much closer to happening in my lifetime than I thought previously.
Nature always sides with the hidden flaw.

We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people but for the appalling silence of the good people.

not quite this generation, but within the next few.

I've decided to just enjoy the ride. Gluttony to the max.

Famine seems to be the last, the most dreadful resource of nature. The power of population is so superior to the power of the earth to produce subsistence for man, that premature death must in some shape or other visit the human race. The vices of mankind are active and able ministers of depopulation. They are the precursors in the great army of destruction, and often finish the dreadful work themselves. But should they fail in this war of extermination, sickly seasons, epidemics, pestilence, and plague advance in terrific array, and sweep off their thousands and tens of thousands. Should success be still incomplete, gigantic inevitable famine stalks in the rear, and with one mighty blow levels the population with the food of the world. Thomas Malthus, 1798. An Essay on the Principle of Population. Chapter VII, p61[1]
