Default Let's talk Cardinals 16-17 Hot Stove, shall we?

Free Agents: Brandon Moss, Jerome Williams
Team Options: Matt Holliday, Jaime Garcia, Jordan Walden
First Year Arb Eligible: Carlos Martinez, Kevin Siegrist, Michael Wacha
Second Year Arb Eligible: Trevor Rosenthal, Matt Adams, Seth Maness

Have to pencil in Molina, Piscotty, Diaz at the spots they're currently at.

Carpenter is in the lineup somewhere.

Grichuk probably plays center but could play left if we trade for a top of the order CF (Charlie Blackmon? Adam Eaton?).

Should expect Peralta and Adams to be trade bait. Maybe Gyorko? Maybe Wong?

Somehow we still have to pay Brayan Pena again.

I feel like mine counts because you posted it before we were technically eliminated.

I'd like to explore firing Mozeliak. He seems to be past his prime

Among other things, yep. If you go by the 18-month timetable, it maybe sets up Lynn to be able to be a fifth starter.

But yeah. I think Reyes pitched his way into consideration for the rotation. Weaver needs some time at AAA. Waino fading. Leake will be there because he'll be there.
    I like cheese.

My thread was too early, I misread my phone. Let this be the thread, please.

Would expect Grichuk to man CF.

I think we can do better than Grichuk

We could if we wanted to devote our energies to CF but we have bigger problems.

I would really prefer Grichuk in left and an OBP/speed guy in center. I also would prefer a new 3B and Carpenter at first.

But, if ifs and buts were candy and nuts...

Taking Reyes in the rotation as a given. If we roll the dice on Lynn coming back we're setting ourselves up for failure again.

I think Lynn is your 3rd starter.

    You go

    Reyes
    Martinez
    Lynn
    Someone shitty
    Someone shitty

We have plenty of eligible guys for those last two spots

Reyes has to be in the rotation.

    Martinez, Wainwright, Reyes

You still have Leake, unless he's a trade piece. Garcia, one way or another, will be gone. You can probably scrape 30 starts out of Lynn. He had his surgery last november, so opening day is pretty damn close to 18 months.

So it's Martinez, Wainwright, Reyes, Lynn, Leake? Sounds about right.

Don't start getting my hopes up by talking about a Mike Leake trade.

Wainwright is your 5th starter at best.

He has four more years plus a mutual option at a price tag less than a QO would be in any of those years. Maybe the Diamondbacks decide they want him after all once their whole front office gets shit canned.

Team probably needs to make a trade, but I'm not sure the partner. Could really use a #3 hitter that has obp and power. Votto seems like he would really help this offense, but that isn't happening.

Carpenter or Diaz can be that guy. The other bats second. Piscotty cleanup. Get a leadoff guy who can play CF. Adam Eaton. Charlie Blackmon. AJ Pollock? Dare to dream.

I think you could keep Reyes, Martinez, Carpenter, Diaz and fire everyone else. Matheny included

I liked Blackmon as an option last year. Mozeliak won't do that. He'll probably trade for Mark Reynolds

We need a list of FAs that the Cardinals may actually have some interest in. Encarnation?

Yes, so they can finish second, blah blah blah.

And, just to get on record:

    Fuck you, Dodgers.

Fuck you, Giants. Really fuck you.

    Fuck you, Cubs.

Now I feel the offseason can begin.
